INTERNATIONAL TRIALS 2008
THE OLYMPIAD YOUTH TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
BEIJING, CHINA
3rd / 18th OCTOBER 2008
1) Date: 5th & 6th April 2008
2) Venue: Templeogue Bridge Centre, Dublin
3) Qualification: Each Player must be aged under 28 (ie born in 1980 or later).
4) Entries are invited from pairs who are interested in representing Ireland at this event.
Each pair will play each other pair in a series of direct matches with VP scoring. Matches will be over as many boards as practical.
The pairs finishing in the first three places in the Trials will form a team to represent Ireland in the World Mind Sport Games National Youth Teams in Beijing. (The Youth Pairs and Youth Individual competitions are also available to these players.)
The pair finishing in 4th place will be nominated as the reserve pair, should one of the pairs in the first three places be unable to participate.
Ties will be broken by imp quotient, which failing, by imp differential and finally by direct match.
5) Substitutes will be allowed at the discretion of the International Committee on receipt of a written request. The substitution will not be approved if in the opinion of the committee the pair would be strengthened by the substitution.
6) Each pair participating in the trials must have two copies of their system available to present to their opponents before a session of play begins. Failure to fulfil this obligation, or presentation of a system which in the opinion of the Tournament Director is insufficiently detailed, will be subject to a penalty in accordance with regulations to be posted.
Slow play / Late arrival/ Mobile phones will be penalised in accordance with regulations to be posted.
7) Entries must be submitted no later than 26th March to John Comyn at 353-1-4946447 or comyns@indigo.ie. The entry fee of €15/£10 per player will be collected on the day of the trials or beforehand if possible.
8) The I. B. U. Youth Bridge Committee is empowered to alter any of the arrangements or conditions including time, dates and venue, and to decide on all matters affecting these trials and each player who enters is undertaking to represent Ireland if nominated and to abide fully with all the conditions of these trials.

Final 2nd October 2004
This competition is open to pupils from second level
education across
Ireland. It consists of two sessions. The morning session was played
over 18
Boards and the top 12 Pairs then played 22 Boards as the Final. The
remaining Pairs played the 22 Boards as the Consolation Final.
The annual
competition is played in LaurelHill School in Limerick and is
organised by Dr Gay Keaveney.
