All the above re-gradings are due for ratification by the G.P. Committee at the end of August 2006 and any appeals must be made in writing to the Master Points Secretary and received before 20th August 2006. An e-mailed appeal is also acceptable.
1. Types of points.
Players obtain points by successful participation in events for which points are authorised.
There are two types of Master Point (MP’s) :-
1) Red points - these are won in many events of national standing and are necessary for the acquisition of certain senior ranks. Red points are awarded in round numbers or fractions. The value of a Red Point is 100 Local points.
2 ) Local points - these are awarded in club, zone and union events and congresses and in other congresses when so authorised by the N.I.B.U. These are converted into Master-Points at the rate of 100 Local points = 1 Master Point.
2. Master-Points Ranks
A player’s accumulated holding of red and local points can be expressed together under the general term of Master-Points.
If a player has 7.25 red points and 4,344 local points, his overall holding is :-
Red points 7.25
Local points 43.44
Master-Points 50.69
The ranks of Junior Provincial Master and above require a specified number of red points within the overall total.

N.B. within the ranks of Junior Provincial Master and Senior Provincial Master a star is prefixed for each block of 100 Master Points in excess of the minimum required.
